Privacy Policy

Short version: the Jikoku app runs entirely on your Mac and your own iCloud. There are no Jikoku servers, no accounts, no Jikoku authorization, and no analytics inside the app. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal content or your in-app actions. Our marketing website (jikoku.app) uses only minimal, consent-based analytics — see section 6.

1. No data collection

Jikoku has no backend. We do not operate servers that receive your data, we do not require an account, login, or Jikoku authorization, and we do not run any tracking or analytics inside the app. We do not collect information about the actions you take in Jikoku. Your calendars, reminders, notes, meeting recordings, transcripts, and contacts never leave your device except through Apple’s own iCloud and Exchange sync, which you control.

2. Where your data lives

• Calendars & reminders are accessed through Apple’s EventKit and synced only via your own iCloud account.
• Notes are read and written through the Apple Notes app on your Mac; they sync via your iCloud, not through us.
• Task duration metadata (Jikoku’s addition to reminders) is stored locally on your device.
• Invite account credentials (e.g. an Exchange or iCloud app password you enter to send invitations) are stored in your Mac’s Keychain and used only to talk directly to those services.

3. On-device AI

Speech recognition, meeting transcription, speaker labelling, note summaries, and task extraction are performed entirely on your Mac using on-device models, including WhisperKit and Gemma 4 12B running locally through Apple MLX. Your audio and text are processed locally and are not sent to any cloud service, including Apple Intelligence.

4. System permissions

Jikoku asks for macOS permissions only to provide its features, and only the system, not Jikoku, holds the granted access:

• Calendar & Reminders — to show and edit your events and tasks.
• Microphone — for voice dictation and meeting recording.
• Screen Recording — only if you enable capturing system audio for online calls.
• Contacts — to suggest guests for invitations and speakers for transcripts. Read locally; never uploaded.
• Apple Events / Automation (Notes, etc.) — to read and write your notes through the Notes app.

You can review or revoke any of these at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

5. Network use

The only network connections Jikoku makes are directly to the services you configure — Apple iCloud (CalDAV) and your work Microsoft Exchange server — to read calendars and send meeting invitations on your behalf. There is no Jikoku-operated server in between.

6. Website analytics & cookies

This section applies only to our marketing website at jikoku.app (not to the app). The site uses two analytics tools:

• GoatCounter — a privacy-friendly visitor counter that sets no cookies and does not track you across sites. It records anonymous, aggregated page views.
• Google Analytics 4 — sets cookies only if you accept them via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. It is configured with Google Consent Mode, so no analytics or advertising cookies are stored until you click “Accept”. We use it to understand traffic and, where applicable, to measure advertising. If you click “Decline”, no analytics cookies are stored.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. We do not sell your data.

7. Children

Jikoku is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. The app collects no data from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be reflected here.
